Dear Mr. Stoller,
Thanks for arranging prompt delivery of the NiceRink liner before Christmas. I was able to install the liner the same day it arrived and immediately began flooding the rink. By the time my holiday visitors arrived, we were skating!
This season's ice is the culmination of six years of developing this rink. As I look back on the evolution of our backyard rink, I marvel at how the lights, clubhouse, boards, and even the tractor mounted resurfacer were relatively simple to build compared to the actual sheet of ice. In the past, we've cleared ponds, "layered" water on makeshift sheets of plastic, flooded water over snowpack. For each of those systems I'd have to choose between longevity and quality. At least twice, we lost the ice in early February due to short, unseasonably mild periods.
We had such a period just last week: rain in the upper peninsula of Michigan in January! I am very pleased that we still have a perfect sheet of ice because the water was contained by the NiceRink liner. Two days after the rain, we were skating again. We have every expectation of playing ice hockey well through the month of March. |

Our backyard rink is used by the whole neighborhood. We have 3 boys ages 6, 11, and 13 who skate on the rink with their friends every weekend and most weekdays when they don't have hockey practice or games. In addition, our neighbors have two high school boys who have their friends drive over to play hockey on Friday and Saturday nights. Many of the neighbor children have learned to skate on this rink.
This is our tenth year having the rink.
